This blog captures the thoughts and good wishes of the PCC Library Technician program students and the PCC community in honor of Mrs. Joanne Kim, upon her retirement in June 2008. There will be a campus reception for faculty and staff on Thursday, June 5th from noon to 2pm in the Terrace Room. There will also be a reception for Library Tech students (old and new!) to say goodbye to Mrs. Kim on June 19th, 2008, 5-7:00 pm in the Library.

Thank you for sending out all of the job postings for Library Tech students and grads. I thought that was very thoughtful of you. I wanted to thank you also for how encouraging you were to me and everybody else taking the Library Tech classes. You were always very kind and nice! I wish you the best in your retirement!

It does not seem possible that you could be retiring! I remember so well, sitting in your office in the "old library" talking about books and teaching! You have been a great asset to this college and you have been a wonderful friend and supportive colleague to me. I will miss your greetings and smiles on campus.
With respect and love,
Sandy Haynes

Thanks for inspiring me to enter the library profession. Your library technician's class gave me a solid foundation that prepared me for library school--I don't think I would have survived UCLA without it. I'm glad I pursued libraranship as a career, as librarians create positive change in society by connecting people with information and resources. Best of luck in your retirement.
